Make your wishlist now, buy in November
The people who save the most during White Friday did their homework in October. A 15-minute plan to walk into the sales knowing exactly what to buy and what it's worth.
When the sales start, every page shouts "limited time" and you have minutes to decide. The people who save the most aren't faster. They decided weeks earlier. Here's how to do that in about 15 minutes.
1. Write down what you actually need
Only things you'd buy anyway in the next few months: the phone you've been putting off, the winter jacket, the kitchen appliance that's breaking. If it wasn't on your mind before the sale, it probably isn't a saving.
2. Save each item in the store's wishlist
- Amazon.eg: "Add to List" on the product page, then find it under Your Lists.
- Noon: tap the heart on the product to save it to your wishlist.
- Jumia: tap the heart to add it to Saved Items.
Saving inside the store means you can open the same exact product in one tap during the sale, instead of searching again under pressure.
3. Record three numbers for each item
- Today's price, with the date.
- The lowest price you see between now and the sale. Check once a week.
- Your buy price: the most you're willing to pay. Decide it now, while you're calm.
A simple note on your phone is enough:
Air fryer, model X, Amazon. 23 Oct: 3,200 EGP. Lowest seen: 3,050. Buy at: 2,600 or less.
During the sale, this tells you instantly whether a "40% off" is real, or the price was pushed up first.
4. Set a total budget
Add up the buy prices. That's your White Friday budget. Anything that isn't on the list doesn't come out of it.
5. Get your accounts ready
- Log in on the app and the website of each store you plan to use.
- Save your delivery address and your payment card.
- Check which bank cards have offers with which store, so you pay with the right one.
6. On sale day
- Open your wishlist, not the homepage. The homepage is built to make you buy things you didn't plan.
